Recently, a fire swept through Mirpur, a slum area of Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh. The fire started in a kitchen and burned for three hours. As a result, many nearby homes were destroyed. Quite a few Compassion-assisted families live in the area, and an estimated 25 of those families were affected by the fire.
No Compassion-assisted children or families were hurt or killed in the fire.
Please pray for God’s provision for those who lost homes or belongings, and pray for the Lord to give strength to those who will be involved in the cleanup.

March 30, 2009: Volcano Erupts in Ecuador
Earlier this month the Tungurahua volcano, located 135 kilometers from Quito, Ecuador, erupted, spewing ash clouds and hot lava–it has now stopped erupting. All affected children attending the Compassion-assisted development center in the area near Riobamba City received medical treatment and have fully recovered.
The staff at the child development center is educating children and their families on preventive health and conducting simulation exercises to teach them how to respond better in case of another eruption.
Please pray for God’s continued protection for our children, staff and families living in the regions surrounding the volcano.
