(*Note: There’s a good chance if you’re Catholic, what I’m about to say might offend you. Please understand that I love you enough to tell you the truth, even at the risk of loosing your friendship — the subject matter is that important. Please read the article and carefully consider what God [in the Bible] has to say on these issues.)
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him (2 John 1:10)
841: The Church’s Relationship with the Muslims.
“The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
Friends and family, we need to identify the problem with this doctrine. Muslims do not believe in Christ’s Lordship, His Sonship, that He is the Savior, or that He died on the cross. The Bible cannot be any clearer: Jesus is God, He is the Son of God, He is the only way to salvation, and He died for the purpose of saving us. His Resurrection from the dead is the proof that all these things are true. Anyone who rejects even one of these truths is not saved.
The Bible is Explicit:
- I and My Father are one (John 10:30)
- “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
- Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. (1 John 2:22-23)
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1 + 14)
If the Catechism is wrong on this major doctrinal point, where else has it erred? The notion that Muslims, or anyone else for that matter, are saved merely because they acknowledge the Creator is ludicrous. Understand that satan (and his minions) also acknowledge the Creator and he likely knows the Bible better than you or I, but we’re all quite confident in declaring that he will not be in Heaven!
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble! (James 2:19)
In direct contrast to what God teaches us in the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church goes on to say that baptism saves (it does not), we can work to save ourselves (we cannot), we can offer up further sacrifices for sins (there’s no need to), and that we can be saved through Mary (we cannot). This is not my opinion; it’s the Bible that disputes these false claims. All these things have been made up by man and do not align themselves with God’s word; they are not God-breathed. They’ve added things to the Bible that God had not intended to be there and both the Old Testament and the New Testament are clear on the issue of adding to God’s word.
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book (Revelation 22:18)
It is the love of Jesus that compels me to tell you the truth; I don’t doubt your faith or your salvation necessarily. Frankly, some of you [that I know] are extremely faithful; you wholeheartedly believe Jesus died for your sins and that He is the only way to Heaven. My concern is that the Catholic church is teaching falsehoods that are leading some towards eternal damnation. We can know this to be true by what the Catechism teaches in regards to Muslims being saved by acknowledgement. That is a about as plain a lie as one can tell.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Numbers 23:19
I know how deep Catholic roots go and I also know how difficult it is to leave a church you love — I did so many years ago because I discovered I was being lied to. I knew I was saved, but when I learned that I wasn’t being instructed in the whole truth, the Holy Spirit led me to a church where the Bible and the Bible alone was being taught. I believe that if you are Catholic (or Muslim for that matter), and you have found your way to this blog today, it is no accident — your Father in Heaven wanted you to hear the truth too.
Please pray that the Lord will settle your heart in this regard and that He would lead you away from the Catechism of the Catholic church and to a place where the entire counsel of God is being presented. If you need help in locating a church in your area where the Bible is being taught, leave a comment below and I will do all I am able to assist you.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
